When you join us at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll be part of a smart, driven team that shares your passion for exploration and discovery. With revenues of more than $22 billion and the largest investment in R&D in the industry, we give our people the resources and opportunities to make significant contributions to the world.

**Location/Division Specific Information**

US - Carlsbad, CA/Biosciences

**How will you make an impact?**

This scientist will be working at the forefront of cell biology, developing integrated applications using a wide array of Thermo Fisher Scientific products, focused on cancer, immuno-oncology and stem cell-derived disease models. This work will support three principal activities, to exemplify how to use our tools to ask broad scientific questions, to execute custom services for our customers and to participate in external collaborations. The scientist will be expected to lead projects independently and to work with junior scientists in a highly collaborative team environment. Projects may include, but not be limited to cancer model generation and analysis, immune cell potency assays, high-throughput or high-content assay development, differentiation of iPSCs into disease relevant cells and more. These projects may be driven by internal project design or by external collaborations.

**What will you do?**

The successful individual will directly interact with senior R&D leadership, project management and external collaborators and customers to develop workplans. The scientist will then be responsible for executing these plans to meet agreed upon deliverables and timelines. These activities will require a significant level of independence but may also be combined with activities of other scientists on the team.

This role will involve the following tasks:

+ Molecular biology: single cell technologies, proteome, transcriptome and genome analysis

+ Immune cell, cancer cell and stem cell culture/differentiation

+ Cancer organoid model derivation and characterization

+ Assay development (potency, high-throughput and high-content)

+ Periodic weekend work (stem cell culture may require daily attention)

+ This individual will also be expected to support and participate in senior level meetings, business reviews, etc.

**Education/experience**

+ Requires a PhD degree in the life sciences. Candidates with a bachelor's degree (10+ years experience) or a master's degree (7+ years experience) may be considered.

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 70,000 extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell. Join us and contribute to our singular mission-enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
