Job summary:
Responsible for executing planning, buying, and inventory management activities and strategies to achieve turns and service levels of assigned, dedicated product lines and planner codes. Responsible to achieve Operations Department Goals while driving strategic procurement objectives.
job duties
* Monitor ongoing performance of suppliers, ensure materials are properly planned for and procured. Right price, right place, right quality, right time, right delivery method, right lead time.
* Work with engineering and production to ensure maximum standardization on commonly used items and on other projects and product introductions.
* Ensure production and customer service departments receive comprehensive, adequate, accurate and timely communications.
* Ensure current and developing product trends are properly planned for and executed while achieving corporate inventory and service level objectives and metrics.
* Continually evaluate part planning parameters and BOM/MRP generation processes. Responsible to ensure that required records are properly maintained and recommend improvements.
* General purchasing responsibilities required to support the ongoing production requirements. Including pricing, invoicing and commercial issue resolution.
* Responsible for monitoring inventory levels and achieving company metrics and objectives.
* Manage purchase order release process, blanket orders, Kanban and consignment programs.
* Participates in and supports continuous improvement activities.
* Manage open orders with suppliers to ensure need dates are met.
* Work with suppliers on planning and scheduling requirements, including providing suppliers with component level forecasts.
* Conduct RFQs, Sourcing and Supplier Selection to support New Product Introductions and drive productivity and quality improvements.
* Support ECN process by obtaining quotations, selecting new suppliers, managing inventory transition and requesting first articles. Manage Consignment and Supplier Stocking Agreements and monitor supplier compliance to set stocking levels.
EDUCATION requirements
* BS, BA or equivalent. Must have educational background in Supply Chain or Operations.
skills required
* 3-5 years experience required in a materials, planning and purchasing function.
* In-depth knowledge of purchasing, inventory, shipping and receiving functions.
* PC Software and spreadsheet skills for analysis.
* Must have experience with ERP systems and working knowledge of MRP/JIT/Kanban.
* Exposure to Lean manufacturing a plus.
* Able to work independently in a fast paced environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-starter, results-oriented with good organizational and project management skills.
* Ability to establish work priorities and effectively manage a wide variety of projects.
* APICS CPIM preferred.
* Must be familiar with engineering drawings and specifications. Experience procuring a diverse range of fabricated or technical items preferred.
* Ability to input, retrieve, access, and send information via computer.
* Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and outside suppliers.
