Position Title: HR Generalist
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports To: VP, People & Culture
Summary/Objective:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the administration and coordination of the daily operations of the human resource function.
Essential Functions:
• Processes all employment transactions in HRIS system including LOAs, new hires, terminations, etc.
• Liaisons with vendor to process short-term disability claims.
• Prepares monthly and ad-hoc HR reports upon request.
• Supports various safety compliance programs including incident reporting, the return-to-work process, worker's compensation claim processing and recordkeeping (Emergency Action Plan, IIPP, OSHA Log, etc.).
• Supports recruitment process including, but not limited to sourcing, job posting, screening, interview coordination, applicant communication, and job offers to candidates.
• Coordinate the pre-employment processes with candidates: alcohol and drug testing, criminal background checks and reference checks.
• Participates in the execution of the new employee on-boarding and orientation program; ensure employees complete new hire documents and audits paperwork for accuracy.
• Answer employee questions and educate employees on benefits coverage options, processes benefit enrollments and changes into corresponding systems in a timely manner.
• May facilitate basic and intermediate training for managers on HR processes, compliance and other HR topics.
• May field employee issues/concerns, escalates accordingly and supports the investigation upon request.
• Handles confidential information in a professional manner, respecting employee privacy while maintaining company confidentiality.
• Reviews and makes recommendations for improvement of policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
• Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
• Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to leadership for corrective action and continuous improvement.
• Assists with coordination of special projects and events, including benefits open enrollment, recognition events, performance appraisals, training.
• Work closely with payroll department to ensure proper input and communication of employee pay and benefits.
• Maintain personnel files updated and organized in line with company policies and government regulations.
• Answers inquiries on employment verifications, job openings, and unemployment claims.
• May perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall success of the company.

- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Mac and Google products and standard applications (Slack, Office365, Chrome, etc.)
- Knowledge of HRIS and ATS systems
- Work Environment:
- Works in an indoor office/home office environment, temperature controlled
- Sit for long periods, standing and walking intermittently
- Use office equipment such as computer, mouse, keyboard, printer
- Occasionally lift or pull up to 20 pounds
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
- PHR, SHPR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP desired, but not required
- 3-5 years of HR experience; e-commerce, retail or similar industry experience greatly preferred.
- Working knowledge using ADP Workforce Now or other HRIS system a plus
- High proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word, & Excel in addition to Google documents.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level
- Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish highly desired but not required.
