Job description

Position Overview:


The HR Coordinator serves under the direction of the HR Manager. This position provides administrative support to the HR team as well the larger HR onsite function, including greeting team members, responding to inquiries, maintaining new hire files and information, completing reports and presentations and performing basic HR administrative tasks. This role will provide backup support to the front desk functions.



Job Requirements:

Specific Responsibilities May Include:

  • Prepare and maintain personnel files including confidential files

  • Conduct New Hire Orientation

  • Maintain and organize employee leave files

  • Respond to inquiries regarding general company and HR policies and procedures

  • Schedule and set up for meetings and other events for HR

  • Prepare agenda and take notes during department meetings

  • Assist with employment verifications

  • Complete employee transactions within HRIS including compensation changes and transfers

  • Partner with Operations supervisors to provide answers to HR related questions for the team member population

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee personal and HR information

  • Answer telephones, relay messages, and maintain equipment and supplies

  • Send out and collect mail for HR department

  • Other general office duties as assigned


Required Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years of strong clerical/administrative support experience

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to critically think


Preferred Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  • 1 year experience working within an HR team strongly preferred

  • Understanding of HR processes and functions (hiring, payroll, benefits, etc)

  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems and HRIS

  • Proactively seek opportunities for continuous process improvement, taking corrective or preventative measures

  • Ability to deal with constant change in processes and procedures

  • Ability to communicate with tact and professionalism, both verbally and in writing

  • Demonstrated strong organizational, time management, prioritization, and coordination skills

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to self-initiate follow up, work independently, and adhere to deadlines

  • Ability to work with members of the TELUS International team at all levels of the organization

  • Willingness to learn new processes and ability to learn quickly

  • Ability to follow instructions with a keen attention to detail and use professional judgment
