Molex is looking for a Business Development Manager for Optical Connectivity products to join the Molex Optical Solutions business unit. This person will be responsible for leading and increasing the Molex value proposition with current customers while actively validating new opportunities in new/current markets, developing industries/markets, and working to open doors at the executive level at strategic accounts.
Molex Optical Connectivity is a leading supplier of advanced fiber optic components which includes a full range of optical solutions from connectors, adapters, cables along with end-to-end solutions for optical blindmate and high-density interconnects. Molex's experience and resources provide customers a wide range of design, manufacturing, and value-added services. Optical solutions are available for the data center and medical markets.
This role will be advocating for and coordinating the future direction of our Optical Connectivity product line with engineering and business development team. This person will have a long-term focus on markets and strategic accounts, and work with the global BD team to coordinate local and global accounts. The ideal candidate will need to be an articulate, self-motivated, driven, creative, and motivational person, capable and comfortable working with all with levels of clients from executive level to technical teams and driving high-tech products in a competitive technology field.
This role will require travel to clients. Amount of travel will depend on location. The role may be in Fremont, CA (preferred), along the West Coast, or in Texas (Austin or Dallas/Ft. Worth area).
Customers are concentrated in Northern California and Washington
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Increase the Molex value proposition in new and current markets and customers. Advocate for new products to service whole markets
- Research technology and market trends, competitive positions, organizations, and individuals to find new opportunities
- Work within Molex team on planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
- Customer input - Aggregating voice of the customer in given markets
- Attend conferences and industry events
- Harness inputs from Molex Sales, Marketing, BDM's, and Engineering
- Develop and implement strategic business plans to achieve revenue, share, and profit goals
- Maintain a high level of product, industry, and market knowledge
- Prepare reports and tracking documents relative to meeting performance goals, forecasting business levels
- Keep the business unit informed of trends, opportunities, and needs
- Consult with and help develop goals for the engineering development team
- Opening doors and opportunities at strategic accounts that will be long term or development opportunities
- Overlay and work with existing business development structure
- Would provide global account focus and coordination
- Aggregates regional BDM advocation for their individual customers
- Support the Molex team/develop quotes and proposals for customers
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification OR degree in a technical area of study (Examples may include Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Circuits, Mechanical Engineering, Optical, etc.)
- Experience working in the Optical Connectivity, Electronic, or High-Tech industry
- Experience with the product development process including technical marketing, technical support, and on-site customer design
- Experience developing and managing client relationships
- Experience managing multiple relationships/product/projects
- Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time depending on your location
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering, or a Technical discipline
- 7+ years sales experience in related products
