Job description

Primary Objective of Position:

  • Plans, coordinates and directs the Tier 2 supplier quality program aimed at achieving a 10 PPM quality level rating.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the company objectives with the development of processes and systems that assure the quality of outsourced materials.
  • Responsible for all Supplier Quality related activities.
  • Responsible for identifying and solving problems and providing solid communication of any issues, while providing solutions.
  • Responsible for investigating, analyzing and correcting problems in quality, production and control at a supplier location.
  • Assist in the supplier approval process as well as the qualification of materials and components.
  • Develop supplier performance management processes and metrics.
  • Assist in supplier survey/ audit responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement projects to reduce cost of poor quality.
  • Develop supplier performance management processes and metrics.
  • Follow ISO/ATF and all other applicable procedures and company policies.
  • Understanding of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA). Understanding of the Six Sigma concept.
  • Follow all safety requirements per company policies and Cal-OSHA regulations.
  • Follow the Punctuality and Attendance Policy by being regular and prompt.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning safety and employment.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Experience with statistical techniques and ability to analyze results.
  • Thorough understanding of problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of ISO.
  • Must have management experience, strong interpersonal and communications skills, presentation skills and excellent statistical analysis ability.
  • Must be able to travel within US and through-out North America
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • The ability to promote quality workmanship in others.
  • Computer and software expertise is a must, Minitab a plus.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • The ability to have regular and prompt attendance.

  • The employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use their hands, and finders to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel or crouch and occasionally required to lift and/or move 25 pounds. Specific vision ability is required and include close vision. Extending hours sitting at computer keyboard.
