Position Description Job SummaryThe Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for planning, supporting, directing and/or coordinatingthe activities of MRO buyers, buyers/planners and related workers involved in purchasing materials, products and services in a matrix work structure.Required Qualifications Education Level Education Details Required/Preferred Bachelor's Degree Business, Supply Chain or Operations Management. Required Master's Degree Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management Preferred Work Experience Experience Experience Details Required/Preferred 5+ years' experience Purchasing and/or materials management experience in a manufacturing environment Required 2+ years' experience Supervision of purchasing department Required Practical/Technical Knowledge Description Required/Preferred Computer skills necessary to fulfill requirement of position, including but not limited to MSOffice products, QAD, etc. Must be very proficient in Excel. Required Mathematical skills necessary to fulfill position requirements Required Excellent problem solving, negotiation, and project leadership skills Required Demonstrated abilities in communication (both verbal and written), organization, and persuasion are essential. Summarizing and presenting data. Required Dedicated, self-starter with a high degree of motivation. Required Licenses and Certifications Enter License/Certification Time Frame Required/Preferred Institute of Supply Management (CPM or CPSM) Last 5 years Preferred APICS (CPIM or CSCP) Last 5 years Preferred Additional DescriptionThis position is responsible for supporting the Garden Grove site by supervising the purchasing department personnel, functions and activities. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing the procurement of all materials, equipment, capital expenditures, and other purchases required to support the site and complete fabrication and assembly in accordance with due dates driven by the MRP Master Schedule and Production site demands. The position requires the supervisor to evaluate, select, and establish relationships with vendors, and negotiate contracts for goods and services, approve purchases and track their progress to make sure orders are filled and delivered correctly, review purchase orders for accuracy and to make sure the best prices are obtained. Adherence to all SGPPL Global Purchasing guidelines and standards.In this role the supervisor will need to regularly assess the market, secure the revenue stream by developing contracts with critical suppliers and proposing to develop dual sources where it makes sense.In order to meet the Saint-Gobain ICRF standard, the supervisor needs to comply with the Saint-Gobain purchasing process and use the Digital Purchasing tools to launch bids and make sure all suppliers are compliant with the Group Corporate Social responsibility policy.The supervisor will collaborate with the PPL central team and the Delegation team to make sure the site is compliant with the company programs.The supervisor will assure that the Corporate Social responsibility program will be implemented at the site and with suppliers per the Saint-Gobain Group policies.Oversee, report and maintain SGPPL Corporate Purchasing portal and E-Tools.
