PBL has an immediate opening for a Microbiology Quality Control Specialist. The Microbiology QC Specialist will assist in maintaining the microbiology quality systems in compliance with regulatory standards. This position offers the employee an opportunity to both play a key role in the laboratory and learn the appropriate skills necessary to advance within the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE MICROBIOLOGY QUALITY CONTROL SPECIALIST INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

• Investigate departmental deviations and address QA feedback
• Investigate un-expected and out of specification results
• Generate and maintain departmental laboratory notebooks
• Create protocols, technical, and trending reports
• Create and revise SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), data worksheets, and forms
• Update laboratory performance metrics databases
• Maintain worksheets, test records, and logbooks
• Generate and maintain testing guidelines
• Review logbooks and data
• Generate and maintain on the job training
• Implement CAPAs (Corrective actions-Preventive actions)
• Manage sub-contracted services
• Perform other additional job related duties as required

. Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS OF THE MICROBIOLOGY QUALITY CONTROL SPECIALIST

• High school diploma with at least 10 years of experience in Microbiology or Related Scientific field laboratory
• Associate degree in Microbiology or Related Life Science field or discipline with at least 5 years of experience in Microbiology or Related Scientific field laboratory
• Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or Related Life Science field or discipline with at least 3 years of experience in Microbiology or Related Scientific field laboratory
• Master's degree in Microbiology or Related Life Science field or discipline with at least 0-1 years of experience in Microbiology or Related Scientific field laboratory

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• Capable of working in a fast paced environment to produce quality and timely results
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask, follow instructions precisely, and maintain accurate records
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and laboratory based data management systems

Salary of the Microbiology Laboratory QC Specialist position will be commensurate with education and experience.
