Job description

Overview:
Element has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to prepare and evaluate test samples utilizing analytical instrumentation (OES/XRF/LECO/ICP) for verification of products. All work is to be performed in accordance with established safety and quality procedures within the turn around time required to meet production needs. This is a 2nd shift opportunity (2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.)

Responsibilities:
Prepare sample and perform testing in accordance with laboratory SOP

Perform sample preparation and metallurgical evalutions as required

Perform order entry and input data of test samples into LIMS

Ensure equipment (OES/XRF/LECO/ICP) used is calibrated and verify the calibration before use

Using drill press, grinders, and typical hand tools to prepare the metal samples for testing

Skills / Qualifications:
Have a diploma / degree in chemistry with at least 2 years experience in similar role

Ability to work work 2nd shift

Have the ability to work in teams under pressure and flexible to work different working hours (night / day) shifts if required or necessary

Knowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating in an independent / chemistry / consultant laboratory
