FIRM
Midwood Investment & Development is a privately held, fully integrated real estate development,
investment and management firm. The firm has invested in, operated and developed over 200
retail, residential, office and hotel properties in several major U.S. markets, including New York,
Philadelphia, Boston and Los Angeles.
POSITION
The Development Associate position will support Midwood's Los Angeles development team on
current and future development projects from inception through completion, with a focus on
financial analysis and reporting. The role will report to the Vice President, Development and be
responsible for financial analyses, contract management and market research in the Los Angeles
market. The Development Associate will be engaged in acquisition due diligence, design, finance,
construction, marketing, leasing and turnover for current and upcoming development projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and manage financial models, budgets, and commitments on current
development projects and new development opportunities.
Prepare and manage budgets, schedules, contract commitments, and other financial
information for internal and external reporting for current development projects.
Assist with design team coordination and project design management.
Assist with the close-out of current development projects and closing activities for new
acquisitions.
Coordinate data sources and manage database of market data for the Los Angeles
market.
Prepare submittals for RFPs and presentations for public meetings and other external
third parties.
Coordinate with Accounting, Finance and Asset Management resources in Midwood's
New York office.
Assist with Development Team process improvement projects and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required
Advanced degree preferred
Two or more years work experience in finance and accounting experience with a real
estate development or investment firm. Commercial and investment banking experience
in a similar or related industry is also acceptable.
Excellent financial modeling and understanding of accounting principles. Advanced
Excel functions and ability to model complex debt and equity structures is important.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Understanding of general construction workflows and processes.
Ability to work in a dynamic, co-located team-based environment.
