JOB DESCRIPTION - EDITORIAL MANAGER

PURPOSE

An Editorial Manager works to garner consistent market and feature press placements for Be Social's beauty, lifestyle and wellness clients. This important role notes a complete ownership of client communication and execution of editorial wins. Editorial Managers drive the process and communication within kickoff meetings with an ability to on board a brand, and support in strategy development.


Editorial Managers can identify media hooks, hero skus, and asset needs across channels; clearly communicating these to clients and then utilize those tools to craft a cross-channel strategy that achieves message points and goals of the most discerning brands.


Going beyond the role of an Associate Editorial Manager, an Editorial Manager is conceptualizing and managing the process and relationship positively and effectively.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to handle important clients and continually raise the bar across all initiatives and press coverage
  • Ability to run meetings and conference calls in a professional, educational and confident manner
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and juggle multiple assignments and changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and with very minimal supervision
  • Advise clients on brand positioning and messaging
  • Build targeted media lists with relevant writers, editors and journalists
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement of leadership skills
  • Compelling presenter and public speaker
  • Compile and deliver monthly account reports, status updates, call agendas, and strategy guides to clients to ensure continuous execution of goals and objectives.
  • Craft enticing pitches, press releases and brand materials to distribute to targeted media
  • Develop high-level strategy for generating favorable publicity and desired messaging for all accounts across target media
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key editors, media, and journalists
  • Display exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ensure that client expectations and business objectives are being met by tracking results against client goals
  • Ensure that key milestones and projects are on track, within prescribed timelines and on budget
  • Gain and maintain client confidence in ability to both execute and anticipate issues requiring strategic input
  • Know when issues arise and when to escalate either internally or with client to control problematic outcomes
  • Manage client expectations
  • Manage efforts being allocated to accounts
  • Manage 6-8 accounts at any time, in addition to any special projects that arise
  • Monitor industry trends and the editorial landscape to drive forward thinking strategies and new approaches
  • Multitask across multiple client accounts and projects under deadline
  • Plan, develop and advise clients on integrated and measurable PR programs
  • Responsible for securing consistent coverage and significant results from strategic pitching and media relationships to achieve client goals
  • Show proactivity, resourcefulness and tenacity in problem solving
  • Secure consistent, quality and favorable client coverage in target mediums and top-tier outlets across print, digital, podcasts and broadcast.
  • Serve as key contact person for day-to-day editorial account activities.


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • College graduate with 5-7+ years of in-house and/or agency PR experience
  • Key contacts within beauty, wellness and lifestyle
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and working well under pressure
  • Discreet, professional and well spoken, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely organized, methodical and efficient, with a good dose of common sense and initiative
  • Ability to manage employees and cultivate their growth within the organization
  • Creative and strategic thinker
  • Strong MS Office skills and Mac proficient
  • Knowledge of both national and regional, shortlead and longlead editorial landscape CisionPoint, Muck Rack, FashionMonitor
  • Collaborative, hardworking and enthusiastic attitude
