Job description

Sr. Business Development Manager

Build partnerships that powers global trade

The opportunity:

Our vision is to create seamless end-to-end supply chains for our customers through integrations and partnerships. As a Business Development Manager, you'll help us build and scale long lasting partnerships and relationships with like-minded companies in the ecommerce logistics ecosystem to enable our vision. Earning trust and delivering results is a big part of this job; partnerships must be mutually beneficial and create a 1+1=4 experience for the customers that trust us with their business. You have experience in sales and business development, preferably in ecommerce related logistics (B2B and/or B2C). You love to engage and observe customers, you demonstrate empathy and curiosity to collect feedback (data + anecdotes) and tell customer stories that influence product design. You are tenacious and unafraid to tackle big problems that haven't been solved before. You see ambiguity as an opportunity to think creatively and execute unconstrained with minimal direction or supervision. You are innovative and get energized by the idea of building scrappy solutions to prove (and disprove) theories and learn, then double up on the ideas that work and switch gears on the ones that don't.

You will:

  • Identify forward-thinking logistics partners with differentiated offerings. Develop mutually beneficial relationships. Collaborate with them to design innovative products to simplify global logistics and unlock incredible value for our customers.
  • Work closely with our Business, Operations, and Technology teams to develop a customer first roadmap to address the needs of our users.
  • Become a domain expert, deeply understanding Flexport's systems and the trade landscape to solve real problems with technology.
  • Get your hands dirty with data, developing meaningful business objectives and metrics to measure your progress.
  • Be a strong voice for your team, communicating feature releases and managing expectations with stakeholders across the company.

You should have:
  • 5+ years of sales and/or business development experience.
  • Business acumen - you understand the levers of the business, know how to set KPIs, and can methodically drive all parties to meet goals.
  • Technical competence - you understand what it takes to build software systems and can make tradeoff decisions with tech colleagues.
  • A strong sense of ownership - you drive the success of the business, collaborating effectively internally and externally to resolve dependencies and lift roadblocks.
  • Passion, curiosity, and willingness to face challenges and solve problems.
  • Great data aptitude: you don't have to run your own SQL queries, but you can go deep in trying to understand the meaning behind the numbers.
  • A startup/growth mindset: driven, bias towards action, move fast, make things happen.
  • Great communication - You are able to communicate effectively, write clear product requirements, and drive consensus across functions and teams.
  • Experience scaling in hyper growth mode.
  • Bonus: You have worked on a logistics or a SaaS Mid-Market / Enterprise e-commerce or marketplace product
