Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking Weapons Systems Chief Engineer (Consulting Engineer) with a current/active clearance to support our Advanced Programs group.
In this role as a Consulting Engineer, the selected candidate will join a staff of Chief Engineers that support program execution of ongoing development activities and new business capture.
In this role, you will:
• Be responsible as Chief Engineer, for an advanced weapon system, pre-acquisition development program.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight of the program, allocate and coordinate engineering resources over an IPT structure.
• Lead the development and execution of technical reviews.
• Partner with IPT leads to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative Engineering solutions that apply new technologies as well as common designs and products that enabling rapid development, prototyping and affordable solutions.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Provide the technical direction for a high visibility program pursuit with targeted capture for 2023.
• Manage and lead a cross functional team of high performing engineers developing advanced systems designs and concepts.
• Introduce and develop new technologies for concepts and design of the advanced weapon system. • Direct IPT leads to ensure program objectives, technical requirements and schedule are met.
• Develop architectures and concepts for autonomous systems and subsystems including flight. sensors, flight computers, communications, propulsion, payloads and air vehicles.
• Interfacing with the design and implementation engineers and architects to ensure that robust and compliant designs are developed
Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.
Basic Qualifications:
• Current active Secret clearance or higher
• BS in Engineering (or related) discipline
• 20+ years' experience in systems and product development
• Demonstrated technical leadership skills, decisiveness and ability to make sound technical judgments with limited information
• Well-versed, skilled and disciplined in system engineering processes
• Background in aerospace systems; working knowledge of aircraft systems, missile systems, avionics, software systems, and their design drivers
Preferred Qualifications:
• Secret Clearance Periodic Re-investigation within the last 5 years
• Working knowledge of missile propulsion systems
• Working knowledge of Low Observable technologies
• Familiarity with Operational Analysis and CONOPS development
• Familiarity with operational and system survivability analyses and methodologies
Salary Range: $188,320.00 - $282,480.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
