ACCOUNTANT

Job Duties:

  • Participate in the monthly close process including reconciling and analyzing general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries by compiling and analyzing transaction/job cost detail information and preparing backup support for the journal entries
  • Initiate and process journal entries for inter-company transactions on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs
  • Maintain excel worksheets for tracking data and potential import into software systems
  • Participate in the monthly billing procedures including generating invoices and providing/organizing supporting documents
  • Post customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions
  • Assist with the weekly accounts payable check run
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of processes and procedures
  • Provide information and assistance to other departments by explaining account transactions/coding and resolving accounting issues
  • Assist with special projects

Skills:

· Knowledge of the basic methods, terminology and practices of generally accepted accounting principles including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger

· Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems - Sage and QuickBooks

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (including Microsoft Word and Excel)

· Ability to work in a multi-entity environment

· Systems-oriented, detailed, and organized with excellent follow-up skills

· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

· Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills required

· Ability to manage large amounts of transactions

· Maintain regular attendance and punctuality

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred

· Minimum 3-5 years' experience required in General Ledger computerized accounting systems
