Job description
Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Engineer Manager, the Manufacturing Planner is responsible for planning, administering, and controlling the manufacturing processes by studying customer supplied CAD Models and/or Drawings. The Manufacturing Planner will work with the CAD Programmers and all departments to develop and improve the manufacturing processes and methods to ensure customer specifications and quality standards are met.
This position will utilize confidential information, Confidentiality Agreement is strictly enforced.
Essential Functions:
- Following the Planning Process WIF, releases new and existing Bill of Materials (BOM's) to the floor for production.
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods by utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, as well as quality control standards.
- Analyze and plan set-up times, cycle times, and tooling requirements for maximum production efficiency.
- Interface regularly with production staff to discuss part design and tooling required to ensure efficient production methods.
- Act as a liaison between the Company and vendors to determine product specifications and plan for the purchase of services, materials, or parts using computerized manufacturing software programs to specify the purchase instructions according to product specifications and quality standards.
- Estimate production times and outside processing requirements as they relate to cost in order to provide timely information for management decisions.
- Update manufacturing jobs on shop floor including the BOM and Open Job Detail Report with any changes or re-work orders according travelers when necessary.
- Confer with management and staff regarding current manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate optimum production processes.
- Maintain, analyze, and update the BOM master files for all manufactured parts that can be audited by the quality department.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Planning and Engineering; or five to seven years of experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Extensive CAD/CAM experience including ability to use MasterCam and SolidWorks is strongly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing methods and procedures including familiarity with CNC and Conventional equipment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documents.
- Ability to understand complex components and assemblies.
- Ability to use and understand the application and techniques of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles and/or ISO9001/AS9100 quality standards is a plus.
- Strong planning, organization, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to lead others and fulfill the company's mission and objectives.
- Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel) and Internet and ability to use various types of manufacturing software programs such as JobBoss.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
