About The Role


We are looking for a Principal Data Product Manager to standardize, upgrade and innovate upon our existing reporting and settlement processes, create appealing customer reporting, implement product performance tracking tools, and lead the way in building our company's data warehouse and reporting capabilities.


We are crafting the next generation of reporting and analytics tools for TabaPay, the goal being to enable our customers to catalog, mine, and explore their critical business data, in addition to providing them with critical fraud management insights.


The Principal Data Product Manager will report to the VP of Product.


Remote candidates will be considered in addition to those local to the Bay Area. *Remote candidates will be expected to travel to the Mountain View office multiple times per year (about 20%).


Requirements

This position will require a technical understanding of data systems and an in-depth understanding of what makes a reporting platform great. You will leverage these skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and develop a world-class platform. Your success in this role lies in your ability to make complex data systems appear simple and elegant.

  • Learn all existing capabilities in Reporting & Settlement and take ownership
  • Translate existing data capabilities into product feature sets
  • Design requirements for engineering to plan ongoing feature updates
  • Own and set the strategy and roadmap for our data, reporting and settlement capabilities
  • Engage with our customers to learn their business needs and build insightful reports
  • Conduct research and analysis to deeply understand our customers and their customers and surface the most critical problems to solve.
  • Identify ideal tools for reporting, work with vendors and implement improvements
  • Prioritize, sequence, and trade-off decisions in partnership with business leaders, and use analytical abilities to evaluate alternatives to make compelling recommendations
  • Design a Data Warehouse and work with the Product and Engineering teams to identify what data pipelines are needed, and what are the highest priority data lakes to include.
  • Perform regular ad-hoc data querying and analysis to better understand customer behaviors including acquisition, engagement, conversion and retention
  • Define success metrics and measure outcomes to improve and iterate. Build KPIs, OKRs for product performance reporting.
  • Serve as a product subject matter expert for sales, sales engineers, customer success, support and professional services
  • Mitigate data quality issues that impact business-critical reporting in the FinTech industry.
  • Attend all sprint planning meetings and relevant requirement reviews
  • Follow our agile sprint planning process and understand the mechanics in detail


Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Data Scientist/Data Analyst or Data Engineer
  • Bachelor of Economics, Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science or similar
  • Proficient in SQL, Python (solid understanding of Python in order to direct engineering- no need to code), Data modeling, and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Proven track record of working directly with data and reporting systems in an engineering or analytics capacity or as a product manager interfacing directly with technical teams.
  • Passionate about data crunching, analysis, transformation, presentation, and visualization.
  • Experience with data lakes and handling large sets of data and delivery.
  • Self-starter, independent, proactive, results-oriented, hard worker, a high degree of motivations to go above and beyond the task at hand
  • Preference for being in a fast-paced environment with responsibility for driving the success of hugely impactful initiatives
  • Previous experience with implementing a data warehouse solution
  • Enjoys presenting solutions to clients and partners - ability to explain complex data relations in a simple and clear way
  • Experience working in a continuous delivery environment using Agile/SCRUM methodologies
  • Data driven mindset, demonstrating the ability to set and monitor key product KPIs

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or MIS degree
  • Experience designing a Data Warehouse from scratch - huge plus
  • BI Tool experience (Tableau, Power BI or similar) is a plus
  • Experience in Payments, Fintech, or complex technical B2B solutions
  • Deep understanding and demonstrated experience in data visualization and reporting dashboards
  • Keen product sense, UX design experience with a deep empathy for customers
