II-VI Aerospace & Defense ("A&D") designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. Our products have been deployed on military platforms such as submarines, tanks, missiles, fighter jets, and UAV's. Basic Function:

Provides visionary leadership, profit and loss, and overall management for II-VI Aerospace & Defense interests in our Space Product Line. Responsible for strategic direction, 5-year planning, and tactical yearly execution including customer satisfaction, bookings, revenue, GM, capital, facility needs, and headcount at multiple II-VI A&D locations. Responsible for working with engineering on the technical roadmap and yearly budgeting and execution of the most leveraged projects.

Identifies and evaluates both technical and financial trends, strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats. Identifies and evaluates new technology with the purpose to guide product and process development for maximum growth. Aids in the day-to-day management of Space contracts for schedule and budget compliance. Works with contacts in the industry and government to identify strategic and tactical opportunities, and develop programs for new products, establish/ nurture technical collaborations, and monitor new technology developments. Develops and/or responds to solicitations for research and development programs. Leads and/or contributes to proposal preparation, red team reviews, and related contract business development.

A&D operates in a matrix environment so business development, engineering, operations, etc are assigned to the Space Product Line on a dotted line basis. Direct reports are from the Space Product Line program office which includes program managers and may include product line leaders for sub product lines.

Ultimate P&L responsibility for all business opportunities determined to fall within the Space Product Line. Provides leadership and management of sites as required

Job Requirements:

Education/Work Experience:

* Minimum BS Degree with either an MS or PhD preferred in Materials Science, Optics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or equivalent.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in a related technical field
* 8 years minimum of management experience of professional engineers, plus 5 years minimum of site management or similar.

Skills/Knowledge:

* Strong organizational, financial, and business planning abilities.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* A proven ability to motivate and lead people.
* Experienced in the space environment, high-performance reflective and refractive optical assemblies, aspheric optics fabrication and test, optical coatings, space-qualified materials, focal plane integration, sensor packaging, and technical planning is desired.
* Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
