Job description

Bay area start up seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to join R&D team to focus on testing leading-edge environmental sensor products using in-house built environmental sensor test systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with engineering team members to ensure clarity on product characteristics and mapping to test and calibration requirements.
  • Design and bring-up test hardware (electrical, mechanical, analyte gas handling) to meet test requirements.
  • Debug and optimize existing HW designs.
  • Collaborate with Test Software Engineers to ensure delivery of an integral testing solution.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors on production test hardware development, verification and validation.
  • Engage on test socket, interface hardware and equipment development. Review and approve multi-site production test hardware schematics and board layouts.
  • Define, coordinate, and conduct experiments to verify test system performance under different environmental conditions. Analyze data and report findings.
  • Recommend changes required in current test architecture (equipment, test procedures or test methodologies) to improve test quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain R&D test systems, trouble-shoot and solve test system issues and problems in timely manner.
  • Perform test systems calibrations, gage repeatability & reproducibility (Gauge R&R) as required.
  • Support overseas production test bring-up.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and have at least 5 years industry experience.
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills including test hardware, test equipment, and test programs.
  • Strong competency in statistical analysis, extracting, organizing, and manipulating data.
  • Strong collaborative and team-work attributes and documentation skills. Strong leadership and communication skills to manage third-party vendors, suppliers and partners.
  • Experience in PCB level design and/or layout review and debug (analog, digital), and mechanical design.
