Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this role you will contribute to the development of technology platforms for the discovery and optimization of next-generation biologics therapeutics for increasingly sophisticated therapeutic strategies.

The Selection and Modality Engineering group within Therapeutic Discovery is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with expertise in protein engineering and display technologies to join our team at Amgens state-of-the-art research campus in Thousand Oaks, CA. The qualified candidate will join a multidisciplinary team with collective capabilities in display technologies, deep mutational scanning, protein engineering, computational protein design, and the production and optimization of complex large molecules.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Design and execute lead discovery or candidate engineering campaigns using display technologies (phage, yeast, or mammalian) toward establishing therapeutic platforms

• Design of complex large molecules to achieve or optimize the desired biological function

• Lead projects and teams, including direct supervision of associate scientists.

• Work independently and effectively in cross-functional teams

• Act as a scientific leader who solves complex technical problems and drives innovation.

• Provide scientific results that support patent applications and publications

Basic qualifications

• PhD with 2 years of relevant scientific experience OR

• Masters degree and 5 years of relevant scientific experience OR

• Bachelors degree and 7 years of relevant scientific experience

Preferred qualifications

• PhD in life sciences, chemical/biological engineering, or a related discipline

• 4+ years of relevant post-graduate work

• Proven expertise in molecular biology and display technologies (phage, yeast, or mammalian) for binder discovery or protein engineering.

• Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by patents and/or peer-reviewed publications

• Strong communication skills and experience leading projects within collaborative teams of scientists

• Passion to learn and mentor scientific team members
