Position Description:
Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Senior Business Analyst for its Newport Beach, CA location. Job ID 32660
Duties: Create, test and support client and regulatory investment rules on PIMCO compliance applications. Conduct process and gap analysis and identify creative technical solutions to increase operational efficiencies and improve compliance business process workflow. Perform requirements gathering, create technical specifications, and analyze data for investment compliance business and technology. Work with software developers to build and implement new enhancements/features in compliance rule engines and compliance workflow and software applications. Read and understand Java code which is required to research and respond to business inquiries. Coordinate and manage acceptance test executed by business users and technology quality assurance teams. Manage code release to production environment and perform production support including identifying, tracking and resolving business and technical risks. Lead projects that require prioritizing, coordinating and executing work across teams while keeping senior stakeholders informed on the latest project status.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field, and seven (7) years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in position offered or related position. Experience must include: Constructing compliance rules pertaining to different types of financial instruments which satisfy client and regulatory requirements; Analyzing lifecycle of different financial instruments including credit default swaps, interest rate swaps, futures, options, corporate bonds, equites, derivatives, commodities, and mortgages, and establishing their valuation metrics as per standards; Using Structured Query Language (SQL) to solve user inquires by querying specific data from the database, perform data research and analysis to establish data attributes for compliance rule automation, and test software application results/reports by comparison against data in database; Using advanced Excel to create various business tools that run SQL queries, compare data between legacy and modern software systems using logical, text, lookup & reference Excel formulas, and create status reports using graphical charts and pivot tables; Using Unix to analyze software, monitor process activity, manage software releases, fetch log files and analyze errors/warnings, maintain configuration files required for day-to-day software operations, and start/stop/restart application server/mid-tier for maintenance and production releases; Using Visual Basic to create visual mockups in Excel by writing to demonstrate new features and functionalities to project stakeholders; Using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to create, test and publish reports based on user requirements, and to understand, analyze and respond to user inquires related to gaps in these reports; Using Hewlett-Packard's Quality Center (QC) to provide test scenarios and test cases to the quality assurance team for regression testing of the software; and Using Atalassian JIRA & Confluence to maintain requirements, technical specifications and testing documentation on confluence, and to setup sprints in JIRA and add stories in scope for a sprint; Practicing agile methodology of project management to manage and deliver multiple projects within specified timelines while maintaining quality assurance standards.
