Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking several Junior to Mid-Level, Environmental Scientists, Engineers and Biologists to support Wildfire Remediation Work in Northern California.

Selected candidates will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the field work conducted by water quality professionals, Biologists, and Archaeologists in addressing the environmental requirements of disaster debris removal and hazard tree program. Selected candidates will conduct site assessments, multimedia sampling, air monitoring, health and safety in a differing levels of PPE,

All work is done in teams of 2, reporting through incident command system.

This position is in the field 100% of the time in one of 10 counties in Northern California. Work will consist of working 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday, 10 - 12 hour days and will average 50 - 60 hours per week. Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements; includes weekend travel and work.

Tetra Tech will provide travel, per diem, and housing accommodations when on travel, unless staff are local to the site. Full relocation will not be necessary.

This is a part-time, temporary position.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate is required to have either a BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Biology or a minimum of 2 years of experience conducting at least one of the following:

  • Stormwater bmp assessment, monitoring, and/or installation on debris removal and hazard tree removal Operations or similar projects.
  • Environmental site assessments for disaster debris removal Operations and/or environmental remediation or environmental assessment soil sampling experience. Alternatively, may have experience conducting environmental field monitoring programs or other comparable background.
  • Ambient and construction related air monitoring sampling equipment setup and take down on debris removal and hazard tree removal Operations or similar projects.
In addition:
  • Experience in GIS, data base management, working with big data, and SQL Server Data Base Management is a plus.
  • Highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload and travel.
  • Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills
  • Proficient with MS Office applications required.
  • 40 hour-HAZWOPER certificate (must be current or within 2 years of completion of initial class) OR complete 40 - hour HAZWOPER prior to first day of work is required.
Additionally:
  • You will drive on a regular basis, must have a valid driver's license.
  • Requires passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check and maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Heavy lifting of field sampling and other equipment is required.
  • Candidate must also meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work.
  • Must be able to work out in the field in ALL weather conditions, in all seasons, including hot and cold weather. This position is out in the field 100% of the time in one of 10 counties in Northern California.
  • Must be able to travel and work weekends.
Education/Certification:
  • B.S. in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, biology or related degree preferred (see above requirements if you do not have a degree).
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER is required prior to start date.
  • 40-hour OSHA, ICS or related training a plus.
