Your Role

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Real Estate & Security, the role of Sr. Manager, Corporate Real Estate will manage Blue Shield of California's Headquarters in Oakland, California and a satellite office in San Francisco, California. This role plays a key role in developing, delivering and collaborating on all aspects of Facilities operations and projects. The Sr. Manager works in a highly collaborative role with a variety of personnel to ensure the effective integration of Facilities services with a focus of providing safe workplaces that meet the needs of the business. Drawing upon their knowledge and experience in a variety of disciplines, the Sr. Manager ensures all compliance and regulatory requirements are properly achieved, operational standards are met, a positive employee experience is provided, and maintains a secure and safe working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

* Lead a team of internal and external staff that delivers day-to-day Facilities operations. Confirm all services are effectively delivered and facilities staff consistently provide positive and prompt response to all requests
* Manage service delivery pursuant to service contracts through effective contract administration, performing periodic / ongoing performance and financial reviews, conducting renewals and RFPs, and assuring quality of service. Vendor services include but are not limited to janitorial, mailroom and concierge services, conference room and event support, food and beverage programs, office moves, and suppliers providing general site, MEP and FLS maintenance. Serve as the primary liaison with property management at each leased facility and be available for afterhours on call support
* Develop and manage the execution of facilities preventive and corrective maintenance plans to ensure optimal performance. Maintain direct communication with management for all changes that affect safety, quality and/or operating conditions of a site
* Ensure space plans, occupancy information, and assigned neighborhoods are current utilizing space management software. Direct oversight of space utilization plans and the workspace hoteling program
* Plan, develop and implement new methods and procedures related to facilities maintenance to drive improvements, minimizing operating costs and reducing environmental impact
* Manages environmental health and safety procedures. These procedures include emergency action plans, disaster recovery, business continuity, employee safety, and other related procedures. Promote and lead on all aspects of safety including administering the Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) by putting safety first and foremost. Responsible for managing periodic site inspections and risk assessments ensuring that all critical elements and gaps are reported and closed in a timely manner. Ensures facility compliance with all applicable local, county, state or federal regulations and industry standards
* Develop and manage operational and capital project budgets at multiple sites. Prepare monthly cost / variance forecasts against project milestones and approved site budgets
* Improve the team's overall Best Practices such as working to improve forms, checklists, processes, etc. Researches and implements new processes and technology to improve operational efficiency
* Manage and lead Facilities team members including hiring, advising, evaluating, training and mentoring. Build and manage a staff which works in a highly team-based, cross-functional and results-oriented fashion
* Limited travel outside of the San Francisco Bay Area

Your Knowledge and Experience

* Requires a minimum of 10 years working experience in facilities management with at least 5 of those years in a managerial role
* Requires a Bachelor's degree in business, management, facilities management, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
* Extensive experience in developing and managing a service-oriented facilities organization is required. Management experience in hospitality / employee experience is strongly desired
* Requires demonstrated skills in people / team leadership and strategic planning
* Desired Certifications: Certified Facilities Manager (IFMA), Facilities Management Professional (IFMA), OSHA10 / OSHA 30
* Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including the being flexible, adaptable, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the company and among vendor partners
* Analytic skills for the collation of data and the production of facilities management statistics as applied in a corporate setting is required
