Position Overview
The Talent Recruitment Manager ensures that all students at KIPP have access to high-quality educators. The Talent Manager leads proactive recruitment and cultivation efforts of top talent, with an emphasis on school-based, instructional hiring and school support. School-based, instructional roles include Teachers (General & Special Education) and Administrators (School Leaders, Assistant Principals, and Content Specialists) for grades TK-12. The Talent Manager ensures that a robust talent pipeline is in place to facilitate the fulfillment of our mission, continued excellence at our schools, and regional growth objectives. The Talent Manager reports to the Associate Director of Talent. The position is based at the Regional Support Office (RSO) in Oakland, CA and is available immediately.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Initiate a year-round, full-cycle recruitment for school-based roles focused on specifically on Teachers. This includes executing referral campaigns, sourcing prospective candidates, and managing relationships with key partner organizations (Teach for America, local universities, etc).
    • Lead cultivation efforts in Northern California by building authentic relationships with connectors, prospective leaders, and school-based support staff in an effort to continually diversify our applicant pool to ensure that KIPP schools have high-quality educators who represent the identities of students served at KIPP.
    • Develop relationships with prospective talent that yield lasting results; serve as a compelling ambassador of KIPP Public Schools Northern California in a variety of settings, from 1:1 conversations with prospects to attending relevant career fairs.
    • Spearhead opportunities for prospective talent to become familiar with KIPP Public School Northern California's mission, values, growth plans, and schools.
    • Monitor the progress of prospective candidates through the recruitment process, including ensuring timely communications, and managing cultivation and selection data in the database system.
    • Use data to drive actions and inform recruitment and hiring decisions.
    • Conduct initial screens with prospective candidates in a friendly, efficient, equitable, and rigorous manner that leads to a positive and efficient candidate experience.
    • Partner directly with School Leaders to curate a candidate pipeline, support them through hiring great educators for their schools, and develop them in their capacity as hiring managers.
    • Create tools, implement systems, and train School Leaders with the skills necessary to increase the quality of instructional hiring and the overall efficiency of the process.
    • Coordinate logistics for events, travel, job postings, and interview experiences.
    • Propose and manage new recruiting initiatives as appropriate.

  • Proficiency and comfort with Zoom, Google Hangouts, Google Suite, Excel, LinkedIn, and various applicant tracking platforms

Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands

Physical:

Ability to use a computer for long periods of time, ability to participate in conference and video calls. Please note that frequent travel between KIPP locations (San Jose, San Lorenzo, Oakland, the Peninsula, San Francisco and Stockton) is required with occasional travel outside of the Bay Area.

Mental:

Stress of deadlines and normal work standards, ability to analyze problems and general alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods of time, memorize and recall objects and people.

Environmental:

Office environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions. Occasional classroom/school environment and travel. In emergency context (e.g., pandemic) work may be conducted virtually fully or partially for extended periods of time or longer, and the expectation is that the individual will establish a productive, remote work environment (e.g., ability to stay connected through different technology means).
