Job Description:# The Volunteer Services Department manages the UCSF Volunteers at all four (4) UCSF Hospital Locations. #The Volunteer Services Coordinator reports to the Director of Volunteer Services and is responsible for the coordination of a variety of programs and services enhancing the patient, family, and visitor experience at Parnassus Heights, Mount Zion and Benioff Children#s Hospitals Mission Bay and Oakland, and other UCSF Health/Medical Center sites as needed. # This position will include working with and supporting all non-clinical volunteers and clinical support programs utilizing volunteers. The incumbent serves as a partner and a resource for all inquiries from volunteers, staff, patients, and community members, and will provide operational and functional support to all department programs including volunteer recruitment, screenings, orientation, trainings, and guidance. #Works with integral partners, clinical departments and Volunteer Supervisors to place volunteers into appropriate assignments across all Medical Center sites. # This position is part of a cross-trained, cross-covering team that will share workspace, and assignments on special projects and events. #This position will support the many operations of a multifaceted department in a fast-paced environment; supports expansion of innovative volunteer and clinical support volunteer programs, provides administrative support to the Director and Project # Policy Analyst as needed.# The Coordinator will be cross trained to work at any of our three (3) office sites (BCH Oakland, BCH Mission Bay, # Parnassus) during Volunteer Office Hours. #This position must be knowledgeable and flexible in order to provide support to UCSF Health leadership, volunteers, departmental requests, and assist leadership, and the Volunteer Coordinator team to provide coverage across multiple Medical Center sites.# The Volunteer Coordinator role models excellent interpersonal communication skills, independent self-monitoring in a hybrid working model from home part-time and exhibits excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration. #Exercises appropriate, independent judgment in complex situations. Position Requirements: Minimum Education: High school/GED required. #Bachelor#s degree in related area preferred. Minimum Experience: 3-5 years experience in Volunteer Services in a medical center setting. Certification Required: Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:# Leadership and organizational skills to mentor and advise volunteers. Project management skills to lead a team, prioritize personal and team tasks and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to effectively handle change. Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively, coordinate and integrate with others throughout the organization. Maintains rapport and professional relationships with volunteers, peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, management. Advanced knowledge in volunteer services and industry best practices. Knowledge of relevant internal policies and external regulations. Technical Knowledge:# Ability to adapt to and become proficient in UCSF approved software systems, programs and databases Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. ## # Physical Requirements: Sit: Up to 8 hours/day Stand/Walk: 3-6 hours Bend/Stoop: Up to 3 hours Reach: Up to 3 hours Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 8 hrs Lift/Push/Pull: 15 lbs This job requires the ability to hear alarms clients and/or instruction.
