Job description

Primary responsibilities:

* Must maintain current certification and training levels appropriate through BSA and Red Cross in order to remain in good standing as a certified Lifeguard.
* Perform rescues, and provide care to your level of training through the Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification.
* Enforce all pool, waterslide and aquatic area rules and guidelines to both staff and guests using the program area.
* Able to follow IROEC specific procedures including swim checks, orientation talks, shift rotation, and working alongside staff who are currently trained in a Lookout position.
* Arrive to shift on time, prepared to work, and stay until all daily closing tasks are complete.
* Complete job training in order to facilitate program in each area required. This includes pre-season training, on-going refresher trainings, and attending in-services as dictated by IROEC Leadership.
* Follow a process to track maintenance and repairs needed on program equipment as directed by Area Leads.
* Ensure that safety and protocol are followed in accordance to American Camp Association and Boy Scouts of Standards.

In communications:

* Establish sound working relationships with staff to provide a high quality program and friendly customer
* Familiar with BSA and IROEC operations including the Emergency Action Plan.

In relations with the staff:

* Work closely with the Area Lead, Program Leads, and Directors to support overall program.

Other:

* Must be able to stand outside for long periods of time, and able to withstand exposure to heat, cold, and wind.
* Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and lift objects and equipment up to 35 lbs.
* Maintain personal physical fitness to ensure a rescue can be made in a timely and effective manner.
* Understand and follow protocol for emergency situations at IROEC Aquatics Facility.
* Request additional training opportunities to be scheduled by Leadership and Youth Development Director.
* Maintain a climate that attracts and motivates a diverse staff of top qualified

Education and Qualifications:

* Current certification as Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid/AED for the Professional Rescuer. (Other certification organizations may be accepted)
* Experience in operations of camp program setting.
* Comfortable working alongside various levels of trained staff/peers and following correct procedure at all times.
* Punctual and self-organized to stay accountable to scheduled shifts and upcoming availability.
* Customer oriented towards guests from youth to adult ages.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work in an unstructured
* Excellent written and oral communications skills, especially when communicating to managers about schedules.
* Desired: Bilingual
