Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems located in Palmdale, CA has an opening for a Structural Analysis Engineer - 4/10 supporting 1st Shift.
Essential Functions:
Successful candidate will be a member of the F-35 Center Fuselage IPT, supporting the assembly of the Center Fuselage at Northrop Grumman's Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center.
Candidate should be experienced in structural analysis methods including large NASTRAN models of metallic and advanced composite structures. Desired skills include MRB stress analysis, detailed hand analysis, FEM analysis (PATRAN/NASTRAN preferred), layout sizing, durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) of aircraft structures, acoustic/dynamic evaluations.
Responsible for liaison support in an MRB environment which includes analysis of parts and installation of these parts in the JSF Center Fuselage.
Experience should include the development and first-hand assembly line support of aircraft structural parts and assemblies utilizing metallic/composite materials (launch vehicle experience considered).
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) and a minimum of 9 years of experience in Aerospace structural analysis or MS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with 7 years of experience in Aerospace structural analysis, or a PhD with 4 years of experience.
Analytical experience with metallic and composite structures.
Finite element analysis experience.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on military aircraft
Experience with crack initiation & growth modeling, assumptions & limitations
Salary Range: 125500 - 188300
