Job Title: Human Resources Director
Location: Panorama City, CA
Reports To: COO
FLSA: Exempt, Salary
Expected Work Hours/Shifts: Full time, M-F, weekends and holidays if required

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HR Director to help a fast growing company in the Cannabis market manage our national expansion and build out a robust HR infrastructure.

This person must be willing to be hands-on and work alongside the HR team and senior management to build the business. This person will ensure that current policies and protocols of the company are effective and efficient, while meeting the needs of the growing business.

The HR Director will work towards developing processes for mentorship, training and support of a young workforce. You will supervise and guide other departments when dealing with employee relations, any issues or disputes.

The HR Director is expected to design training procedures to help support current supervisors and managers, forecast staffing needs, mitigate risk, structure benefits packages, implement consistent practices regarding employee actions and disciplinary actions, and oversee all human resources-related tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervisor of Human Resources Manager, Recruiter, and Human Resource Assistant
Provides communication between supervisors and employees
Provide training and guidance to supervisors and managers
Manage the company's recruiting and training of new employees
Oversees the daily workflow of the department
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

Duties/Responsibilities
Develop and implement standard operating procedures and company policies
Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staff, recruiting, retention, and overall practices

Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.

Develop all programs and procedures for administration of HR activities in our multi-state operations and build out a robust HR infrastructure to manage rapid growth in this fast-moving industry.

Must have knowledge of national labor laws and the variances among states in order to advise the CEO about risks and strategies to build a labor force simultaneously in multiple states.

Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.

Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Implement strategies to improve employee morale, handle any reviews of current and former employees on job sites, social media, or any online platform.

Work to improve internal employee communication and support systems so that team members have their needs addressed efficiently and effectively.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.

Develops and implements departmental budget.

Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
Work to establish community social programs so the company can give back to the local community. Performs other duties as required.

  • In depth knowledge of labor law, regulations, and HR best practices
  • Education and Experience
  • Proven working experience as HR Director or other HR executive
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Masters degree preferred
  • Demonstrable experience with human resource metrics
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred
  • Computer Operations Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems
  • Physical Requirements
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
