About The Role
Director, Biopharma Business Development
The Director, Biopharma Business Development will have a key role in developing and executing the strategy for building new business relationships with 10x's Biotech, Pharma and CRO customers with a focus on drug development and clinical applications. This individual will be responsible for deal flow and management of the deal process from initiation through deal close. The position is highly collaborative in nature and will require that you work cross functionally with Legal, Finance, Marketing, Sales, R&D, Communications and other 10x teams to identify and close new deals.
Individuals applying for this position must be self-starters, strategic thinkers, action driven, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Director of Biopharma Business Development will need to have an established network within Biotech and Pharma, to excel at managing multiple priorities, succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and provide immediate contribution.
What You Will Be Doing
- Set the framework for, and construct innovative, value-creating "win-win" deals to meet 10x's strategic and financial objectives, while interfacing with cross functional 10x team members such as Legal, Finance, Marketing, Sales, and R&D.
- Prepare and present 10x's vision and capabilities to generate interest from prospective partners
- Coordinate with 10x's scientific, operations and leadership team to present comprehensive proposals
- Source and effectively negotiate successful outcomes for potential commercial and strategic partnerships, collaborations, etc.
- Lead proposal development, term sheet generation, and negotiations
- In addition to being externally focused to understand customer needs, you will need to build strong internal relationships, working across functions to solve problems, find solutions and deliver an outstanding customer experience. You must be able to influence and shape opinions and help teams reach decisions and deliver on customers' needs.
- Maintain high visibility within the customer organization. Monitor customer satisfaction by regular communication with the customer.
- Strong scientific background, preferably a graduate degree in immunology, biology, or biochemistry and are familiar with biologics. An MBA is desirable, but not necessary.
- 8+ years of experience and a proven record in business development within the biopharma / CRO industry
- Have experience and an established network within Biotech and Pharma and are familiar with the biologics discovery and development process
- You are interested in the emerging innovations in the biopharma industry and understand how technology can drive value for the 10x business
- You have experience with and appreciate the role of different business models in growing a business (e.g. partnerships, collaborations, licensing, services)
- You have a track record of successfully engaging at both the scientific and executive levels to execute on business opportunities
- Strong collaboration and communication skills as demonstrated by ability to work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders.
- Energetic, resourceful self-starter with high integrity, strong executive presence and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
- You can build and service multiple leads simultaneously, balancing emerging relationships with on-going ones, addressing needs on time.
- You are motivated to grow the business and see the broader team succeed. You are able to prioritize and focus on the important, not just the urgent.
- Adapt and be flexible to changing priorities
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, both domestic and internationally, as required
