Location/Division Specific Information

At Genetic Sciences Division (GSD), a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, we deliver - industry-leading genetic sciences tools and solutions to advance scientific discovery, enable customers in applied markets and improve global health outcomes. Specifically, GSD workflows enable biomarker discovery and analysis, predictive genomics, reproductive health solutions, pathogen detection, disease-specific solutions, forensics, and human identification.

As part of the GSD Quality and Regulatory organization, you will be aiding in the implementation of the GSD Training and Quality Systems strategy. You will be a driving the quality culture mindset "to ensure quality is right the first time, with the customer in mind" at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The position will be a remote based position, ideally based near our Pleasanton, CA sites or Austin, TX site.

How will you make an impact?

The training specialist will be instrumental in executing training program to support a world-class quality mindset via a robust quality system training strategy. More specifically, the position will be responsible for supporting and continuously improving the quality training program through the creation of standard training workflows, identification of training needed, create training content and deployment of the trainings via various means across the network of GSD locations and functions. This position will ensure development and adherence to processes, policies and procedures of the company and external regulatory agencies.

What will you do?

  • Utilizes knowledge or quality system processes and to enhance training programs an improve training effectiveness
  • Support the division wide quality training program to ensure that learning and development is aligned with the business.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support the identification to develop, build, and implement course content and effectiveness checks using various methods. Incorporate corporate training initiatives into the program such as Making Quality Personal
  • Support the administration of the learning management system for the division
  • Maintain departments training documentation for compliance and training curricula
  • Provide input and lead projects for IT quality system process improvements to ensure the product and customer requirements are met.
  • Maintains and manages compliant and effective training program and quality system for the activities in scope of the role.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify, develop, build, and implement quality training.
  • Participates in internal audits/assessments to identify improvement opportunities in training, supports a state of continuous inspection readiness. Partner with management to drive solutions to address gaps.
  • Manage and deliver on projects to drive continuous quality excellence, utilizing Practical Process Improvement concepts
  • Support generation of training reports and KPI metrics/trends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor's or associates degree (with at least 2 years training experience) with a preference of Science or related technical field

    Experience

      • A minimum of 3+ years of related experience in training and quality systems
      • Experience of design and administration of training programs using various methods.
      • Advanced experience with SuccessFactors or other digital/electronic training platforms preferred
      • Experience / familiarity with the following: 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485 with focus on IVDR or MDR preferred.

      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

      • Experience with a range of training methods (on the job, classroom, e-learning, workshops, virtual classrooms)
      • Strong and effective communicator, written and oral across all levels of the org with a diverse group of individuals
      • Knowledge of quality procedures, processes and guidelines and be able interpret and operationalize quality system regulations
      • Excellent organization and time management skills
      • Able to concurrently oversee/contribute to multiple projects
