Blue Banner and National Organic Packing is a family own packing house servicing the city of Riverside for 71 years. We are the leaders in producing, distributing, and marketing grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and limes. We provide our customers all over the world year-round service.


Our growers are passionate and experienced from the state of California. To supply our customers with the finest grapefruit in the world, we operate a packing facility in Riverside. Our distribution and transportation capabilities ensure peak quality grapefruit from our very own trees. When it comes to food safety, we adhere to the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) program and Good Harvesting Practices (GHP). We proudly share responsibility with our growers to ensure total satisfaction for our customers.

The Sizer Line Operator plans and coordinates daily fruit line operation functions. This position is responsible for segregation of fruit size, fruit label application (PLUs) and coordination of fruit size planning process. Preventive Maintenance and cleanness of the equipment and fruit sizer reports.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the proper setup and safe operation of the equipment.
  • Perform all necessary start-up and shutdowns procedures, cleaning, and troubleshooting to ensure accuracy of equipment operation
  • Perform fruit size setup plan as per customer packing plans. And provide sizer plan map to packing team.
  • Monitor fruit samples for quality, size grade and identify when adjustments are necessary.
  • Ability to perform material and product changeovers in time allotted.
  • Continuously monitor all relevant adjustments as needed to reduce/avoid downtime.
  • Participate in minding the fruit by taking ownership of their respective areas. And to continuously monitoring performance of equipment, quality of work, identifying barriers to success and taking meaningful action.
  • Understand other areas to minimize any negative external and/or internal impact to their processes.
  • Responsible for PLU's daily usage and monthly inventory.
  • Complete downtime tracking documentation
  • Execute our company mission and goals without losing sight of employee and food safety.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement efforts at the facility in Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Productivity/Throughput.
  • Other assignments by management.



Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:

Compliance with all Plant, Federal and State regulations such as: Cal OSHA, EPA, RWQCB, FDA, HACCP, Air Resource Board and SQF.


Organizational Relationships:

Position reports to: National Organic Packing Line Lead.

Direct reports to this position are: None



Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or demonstrated equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and computer systems (or any of the three systems experience).
  • Demonstrated adequate knowledge of organization effectiveness and operation of computer systems.
  • Must be able to work undependable and have great communication skills.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to do basic math.
  • Able to use excel and word programs.
  • English and Spanish speaking is a must.

Physical Demands:

Position requires hands on working at the plant level packing and receiving environment - lifting will be required.


Work environment:

Works in ambient temperature type production and receiving environment with typical production related noises from processing packing machinery.
