ABOUT STAND UP PLACER

Stand Up Placer provides comprehensive services to Placer County survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and their families. Our mission is: Saving lives by empowering survivors and educating communities to stand up to domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Domestic Violence Response Advocate provides emergency and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking while primarily embedded within the Roseville Police Department, and at various locations in the community. The DV Response Advocate may also be responsible for providing community outreach, education and training pertaining to Stand Up Placers programs and DV, SA, and HT.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

* Respond on-scene with Law Enforcement to incidents of domestic violence
* Provide emotional support, crisis intervention services, and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence after contact with law enforcement
* Follow up with survivors of domestic violence within 72 hours after receiving notification from law enforcement about an incident
* Assist clients with the creation of a safety plan and ensure that they have sufficient resources and referrals to meet their immediate needs
* Assist clients with accessing Stand Up Placer emergency services, such as safe housing, and other supportive services
* Provide connection for further follow-up services and continued support
* Work collaboratively with coworkers, partners, and service providers
* Prepare and conduct trainings and education to law enforcement, including developing and improving upon the Domestic Violence Emergency Response Team (DVERT) practices and protocols.
* Abide by all Stand Up Placer and Roseville Police Department policies and protocols and trauma-informed and empowerment model to services
* Maintain a professional relationship with clients and community partners at all times, enforcing strict boundaries
* Attend internal scheduled staff meetings, team meetings, and domestic violence trainings; attend law enforcement briefings when necessary

Requirements

* High School diploma or GED required. Associates degree in Social Work, Social Services, Human Services or a related field preferred.
* At least two years of experience working with survivors of violence and/or at-risk youth OR a combination of education and one year of experience working with survivors of violence and/or at-risk youth
* Ability to address crises and use critical thinking to problem-solve effectively
* Ability to work under pressure, manage and meet deadlines
* Ability to work sensitively with traumatized and diverse populations
* Ability to work independently and as a team
* Excellent communication skills with clients, co-workers, and community partners
* Awareness of and sensitivity to the cultures represented in Placer County
* Excellent organizational skills
* Strong professional boundaries with clients is required
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Publisher, Prezi, PowerPoint, and Outlook welcomed
* Must be comfortable working in a law enforcement environment
* Must be over the age of 18
* Reliable transportation, valid California Drivers License and proof of insurance
* Fingerprint clearance required
* Bilingual Preferred
