About the job:
The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Consultant to join our Hybrid Cloud Practice Migrate and Modernize team. In this role, you will specialize in the deployment and implementation of automated container platforms, deployment pipelines, and cloud-ready application architectures. You will also become an expert on our migration and modernization tool kits. You should be a great DevOps engineer and your strengths are on the applications software development side of the stack. You'll learn to implement and guide implementations of cloud-ready applications and deployment pipelines on large-scale container platform clusters using Java, Node.js, Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. As a Senior Consultant, your ability to learn new technology quickly will be essential. Successful applicants can be located anywhere in the U.S. within close proximity to an airport in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do:
Design automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions with a focus on application development and deployment aspects, including cloud-ready distributed application architectures, migrating workloads to containers, containerized development workflows, and integrating container platforms with automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines

Learn new technologies quickly, including topics like container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, and microservices on container platforms

Travel frequently in the future to work alongside leading financial services, retail, telecommunication, and institutional customers, in line with Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines

What you will bring:
8+ years of software development experience; 4+ of those years specifically focused on cloud-ready application design and deployment and DevOps methods

Applied knowledge of working with agile, scrum, and DevOps teams

Proven experience with software development, including languages, systems, and frameworks like Java, Spring, Quarkus, Python, Java Message Services (JMS), Apache Kafka, SQL, NoSQL, and Redis or Infinispan

Applied knowledge of modern software delivery methods and tools like test-driven development (TDD), behavior-driven development (BDD), CI and CD and Jenkins or Tekton

Solid creative problem-solving skills

Background working in a strategic advisory capacity with senior IT and business executives
