Responsibilities of UMass Global full-time faculty include teaching, mentoring and service. Research activities are supported, but not required. All faculty positions are non-tenure track, primarily hired at the rank of Assistant Professor, however, higher rank may be considered if appropriate. UMass Global offers competitive salaries with generous benefits. The Assistant Director is required to live within a sensible travel distance from the San Diego campus.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or higher
  • Obtain/retain a current unencumbered state of California registered nurse (RN) license
  • Meet California Board of Registered Nursing requirements:
  • Two (2) years' experience teaching in pre- or post-licensure RN programs
  • One (1) year continuous experience, or its equivalent, as an RN providing direct patient care
  • One (1) year experience as an RN Administrator with validated performance of administrative responsibilities and working knowledge of California Board of Registered Nursing rules and regulations
  • Possess experience with distance learning, academic technologies and application of evidence into clinical practice
  • Hold or will obtain National League for Nursing Certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE)


Responsibilities:

  • Program administration
  • Coordinating clinical sites and student placements
  • Clinical supervision of students in BSN rotations
  • Recruiting and Mentoring pl-ABSN full-time and adjunct faculty
  • Participation in on-campus Immersive learning sessions, student teaching and faculty meetings
  • Maintaining clinical practice as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing (15% of workload)
  • Community outreach and recruitment of potential students
