Description:

Fate Therapeutics is seeking a skilled and highly motivated cell biologist to join our companys Process Development team to support the companys off-the-shelf cellular immunotherapy programs. The successful candidate will join a process development team focusing upon developing a robust manufacture process to derive natural killer cells from engineered iPSCs for cellular therapeutic purposes. Candidates must have extensive hand- on experience in multi-color flow cytometry and aseptic cell culture technique. Prior experience in stem cell differentiation or immunology is preferred. This role will require close collaboration with internal R&D, Manufacturing, Analytical Development, and QC teams. This position is full-time position and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, California and reports to the Senior Scientist, Process Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Aseptically maintain and expand all stages of iPSC-derived NK cells following standard operation procedure.
  • Perform characterization of stage-specific processes utilizing flow cytometry, FACS sorting, gene expression profiling, and media analysis
  • Perform and analyze experiments to identify critical process parameters in the manufacture process.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies for specific manufacturing processes, as appropriate
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis experiments to support Manufacturing productions
  • Collect, record, organize, and analyze data in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy
  • Present data to Process and Assay Development team, Tech Ops group, and larger program-specific teams
  • Management of reagent inventory and communication to relevant team members

Qualifications:

  • M.S. + 2 year of relevant experience, or B.S. + 4 years of relevant experience in stem cell biology, developmental biology, biomedical engineering, immunology, or other related fields
  • Prior hands-on experience with iPSC/ESC culture and differentiation
  • Prior experience in multi-color flow cytometry data acquisition and manual analysis using FlowJo
  • Excellent data analysis and presentation skills
  • Familiar with statistic software like Prism, JMP, or Spotfire
  • Strong organization and record keeping skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced setting
  • Positive outlook, willingness to learn, and a desire to work collaboratively in a team environment

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Will require working with cells and cell lines of human and/or animal origin
  • Will require working with hazardous materials
  • 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
  • Evening and weekend work as necessary
