LOCATION San Diego, CA DEPARTMENT Supply Chain The role of the Buyer/Planner is to manage purchases of canned food products distributed by Bumble Bee Seafoods in the United States, Bumble Bee Seafoods International and Clover Leaf Foods in Canada. The role includes, but is not limited to, scheduling production, entering and submitting purchase orders to co-packers, and keeping adequate supply to minimize stock-outs to 1.5% or less. The role also holds responsibility over COGS, budgets, and meeting all financial targets of the company for the assigned business segments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Purchasing * Execute purchasing strategies and keep system updated * Use SAP purchase requisitions to evaluate purchase needs; Keep SAP updated to ensure purchase requisitions are accurate at all times * Provide forecasts to suppliers, schedule production and execute purchase orders to co-packers * Understand and maintain accurate terms and condition on purchase orders * Communicate with suppliers and maintain data accuracy in SAP * Use SAP Invoice Management System to resolve any invoice discrepancies * Work with marketing and packaging departments as needed to ensure materials are available to support purchase plans Reporting and Analysis * Responsible for updating weekly cash flow reports and monthly COGS and working capital reports * Identify areas to improve business processes * Be part of continuous improvement of SAP, SNP, and other Information Systems projects Communication and Projects * Partner with the marketing department, demand planning, and deployment groups to understand ongoing demand for each product * Responsible for all supply chain aspects of new item introduction- Coordinate Marketing, Sales, and QA to develop project plans and ensure successful launch of new items within assigned business segment * Create reports and communication updates for various business units * Responsible for managing and communicating about stock issues QUALIFICATIONS: * 1-2 years of planning and or purchasing experience and technically proficient with appropriate procurement systems and tools * Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills * Works effectively in a fast paced environment with competing priorities * Demonstrates resourcefulness and versatility in responding to change * Strong Excel knowledge -ability to easily create reports and perform advanced analysis * Must be self-starter with strong sense of urgency and a desire to achieve in a rigorous, entrepreneurial environment * Demonstrates strong analytical skills and creative problem solving capabilities * Willing to take on additional tasks outside of the direct responsibilities * Requires occasional travel ( * Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) desired * SAP knowledge desired About Bumble Bee Seafoods The Bumble Bee Seafood Company is passionately pursuing its purpose of feeding people's lives through the power of the ocean.
