We believe great skin shouldn't be a luxury, but a fact of life. The Lab Operations Manager will lead the lab to maintain a smooth operation process. The primary responsibility of this position is to make sure daily production operations and compounding schedules will be fulfilled. This role will supervise filling lines directly during the non-sterile compounding process and ensure the quality by adhering to SOPs and other required regulations. In addition, this role will provide direct supervision over the Lab Aide Team and the Quality Assurance Associate. The ideal candidate has experience in people management, lab management, and/or compliance. The Lab Operations Manager will work closely with Lab Supervising Physician, Senior Lab Manager, Lab R&D / Quality Improvement Associate, Inventory Coordinator, Lab Compounding Lead and Lab Aide Lead. The Lab Operations Manager will report directly to the Lab Supervising Physician. What you'll do * In general, it ensures the quality and safety of the operation process. * Ensures SOPs complies with all applicable federal regulations, including but not limited to: USP 800, USP 795. * Manage our lab aides on-site in San Diego. Oversee, guide, and delegate tasks for the team. Provide mentorship and foster employee development and teamwork. * Helps the Lab Compounding Lead to train new Compounders. * Helps the Lab Lead to train new Lab Aides/Floaters. * Trains new MDs on SOPs/labs policies and procedures for coverage when Lab Supervising Physician is not onsite. * Make sure the daily compounding schedule is fulfilled efficiently to maintain enough stock of compounded products but not exceeding the regulated amount. * Ensures lab equipment functions normally. Manages the situation if any equipment does not function properly. * Implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures. * Helps Lab Compounding team to ensure Log Formula Worksheet (LFW) of each preparation is filled correctly. * Helps Lab Aides and Lab lead to ensure daily production activities run smoothly and is correctly documented on Simplifi. * Is able to assist in production (Pumping/bottling/labeling/quality control/inventory) as needed. * Works cross-functionally with various departments including but not limited to Supply Chain, Inventory and Fulfillment to plan lab staffing, production, and inventory in order to meet the needs of the business. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides direct day-to-day supervision of bottling lines.Provides direct supervision of Lab Aide employees and Quality Assurance Associate. This includes touching base with these teams on a biweekly basis. Manages and approves the timesheets of Lab Aide II employees and the Quality Assurance Associate.Works with the Lab Lead and Compounding Lead to provide coaching when there is inappropriate behavior with the Lab Compounding or Lab Aide Team, e.g. attendance issue. What you'll need * Must be able to work in an laboratory environment, standing and walking around as much as 25% of the day * Lifting requirements: Up to 40lbs * Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (including respirator) * Travel requirements: * Limited exposure to potentially hazardous substances Qualifications and Skills Minimum Requirements: At least two years supervising experience in a lab environment or compounding field.Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal skills) with other team members.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and optimize tasks from multiple sources.Strong leader with proven ability to make decisions and quickly respond to challenging situations.Ability to maintain a positive environment in the lab.Ability to troubleshoot and work cross-functionally and comprehensively.Driven, detail-oriented, self-starter, comfortable collaborating. Excellent attendance record, consistently punctual and reliable.Humility, team-first attitude, and the ability to get stuff done.
