We are seeking a Principal Research Associate / Senior Research Associate to join our Protein Sciences team. This individual has a hands-on role performing downstream process development and scale-up for molecules expressed in our semisynthetic expression platform. This will entail development of primary recovery, refolding, purification, filtration, and formulation operations. The Principal / Senior Research Associate will also author technical documents (reports, tech transfer documents, SOPs), present data to key stakeholders, and participate in troubleshooting. This individual provides the group with technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute downstream processes for refolding and purification of expressed proteins, within aggressive timelines.
• Prepare and present project updates to ensure timely delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and training to co-workers in the execution and analysis of downstream processes and in the use of current and new equipment.
• Consummate ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, cross-functional environment, with superior oral and written communication skills.
• Proactively troubleshoot and mitigate complex technical, experimental, and instrumental issues.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS degree, plus minimum 4 years of relevant academic / industry experience; or MS degree plus minimum 1 year of relevant academic / industry experience.
• Hands-on experience in developing and executing methods for protein purification. Experience with high throughput purification (HTP) strategies and refolding of proteins from inclusion bodies is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with AKTA instrumentation is required. Familiarity with various modes of chromatography (IEX, HIC, RPC, SEC, affinity) is highly desirable.
• Experience with filtration (TFF, ultrafiltration / diafiltration) is desirable.
• Experience in protein characterization methods (SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, HPLC, CGE, endotoxin) is advantageous.
• Must have permanent US work authorization
