Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA.
The Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Quality Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field and 5+ years of experience in a quality assurance, mission assurance, or related experience (3+ years of related experience with a Master's degree).
Active DoD Secret clearance (US Citizenship required).
Have worked in an ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System Environment
Must be familiar with standard Visual and Mechanical Inspection techniques and tools.
Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics.
Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Quality Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field and 9+ years of experience in a quality assurance, mission assurance, or related experience (7+ years of related experience with a Master's degree).
Active DoD Secret clearance (US Citizenship required).
Have worked in an ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System Environment
Must be familiar with standard Visual and Mechanical Inspection techniques and tools.
Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics.
Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action
Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels:
Exposure to lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies
Previous experience working in an environment delivering products for a defense/military environment
Knowledge of statistical process control, data visualization, and/or measurement analysis methods.
First Article (AS9102) Documentation experience a plus
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T). - Previous experience in a DoD, DCMA and Missile Defense Agency environment or with a DoD provider of products and services.
Skilled at supporting internal and external audits for QMS.

Salary Range: 92000 - 138000
Salary Range 2: 114100 - 171100
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
