JOB DESCRIPTION - RESEARCH SCIENTIST

Scale Biosciences, Inc. (ScaleBio) is an early-stage life sciences tools company developing single-cell library preparation assays, protocols and methods based upon its patented and demonstrated combinatorial indexing technologies without the need for an instrument. ScaleBio is developing a broad range of genomic, proteomic and multi-omic applications to address the emerging requirements and unmet needs across basic, translational and clinical research fields of study. ScaleBio's products enable unprecedented sample and cell throughput, multi-omics profiling (genomics and proteomics) extensibility, and improved single cell data quality, at a fraction of the cost of on-market single cell systems. The Company is seeking passionate, driven scientific professionals to join our assay research and development team. In this role, reporting to our Director of Assay and Protocol Development, you will develop single-cell genomics assay products in support of multiple applications across multiple fields of study. You will have relevant experience in defining product concepts, designing, and developing assay and kit-based product offerings and validating these assays with collaborators through alpha testing and beta early access programs.

Responsibilities:

• Define product concepts by application and field of study.

• Design and development of single-cell sequencing assays and protocols.

• Work with multi-disciplinary teams across instrumentation, consumables, and bioinformatics.

• Work with external collaborators and beta early access programs to validate product, gather prospective end customer feedback on product and demonstrate value-add.

• Responsibility for planning, tracking, and driving timely execution of assay development activities.

• Coordinate product requirements, translates into specific goals, and ensures products meet customers' expectations.

• Collaborate and deploy project management within cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

• Basic education in molecular biology, genetics, or genomics.

• Experience and knowledge with next generation sequencing and genomics technologies.

• Minimum three years' experience in life sciences tools and assay development.

• Relevant experience or knowledge of single-cell sequencing methods and technologies.

• Project management capabilities to take product concept to validated assay and kit.

• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking in a commercial setting.

• Solid understanding of timelines and budgeting necessary for product development.

• Excellent communication skills & team worker.

Company provides competitive compensation, health and dental benefits, 401K retirement saving plan, state of the art laboratory facilities and an exciting and innovative culture with the opportunity to do and enable great science. ScaleBio is an equal opportunity employer committed to hiring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
