POSITION SUMMARY
The People Generalist is a key member of the fast-paced People + Kulture team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, People Operations, this role is responsible for supporting Kendo's diverse US and Canadian workforce across our headquarters, field and retail locations with a wide variety of essential HR functions. This position is vital to People + Kulture at Kendo serving as the first point of contact for all-things HR. This is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting, growing company.
General HR
• Advise individuals and people managers on employee relations activity classified as low to moderate in complexity.
• Supports the entire employee lifecycle from onboarding and orientation to termination and is the first point of contact for all HR related matters and inquiries.
• Key partner in implementing programs aimed to improve the employee experience and facilitating change management throughout the organization.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures for internal processes.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal law, including labor law postings for all locations.
• Manage all inbound physical mail for the HR team; delegate and distribute as needed.
• Provides support and participates in other HR related projects, duties, events, and tasks as requested.
Program Support & Coordination
• Manage the new hire onboarding process, including I-9 and New Employee Orientation.
• Facilitate the offboarding process for all employees, including processing terminations, final pay, federal / state compliance, and conducting exit interviews.
• Audit and process bi-weekly hourly payroll for our US and Canadian workforce.
• Monitor and report on the frequency of Meal and Break penalties and volume of overtime hours for the hourly population; implement strategies to mitigate.
• Maintain the HR knowledge base and company intranet for various programs and policies, including onboarding, time keeping and seasonal initiatives.
Data Management
• Data entry, maintenance, and audits for HR technologies, including, but not limited to HRIS and LMS systems.
• Create, maintain, and update electronic HR files for all active employees.
• Liaise with Executive Assistants to ensure company Org Charts are accurate and formatted consistently.
• Accurately compile and disseminate weekly, monthly, and annual reporting to key business partners, parent company and/or vendors; provide detailed analysis and advise on next steps where applicable.
• Point-of-contact for IT partners regarding offboarding and Kendo employee demographic data.
• Partner with finance to ensure accuracy across the organization regarding department and brand assignments.
• Source, organize and deliver ad hoc reporting on request.
REQUIREMENTS
• BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• 3-4 years of experience in Human Resources required
• Strong general knowledge of HR best practices including employee relations and compliance; professional certification (APHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus.
• Sound judgement and discretion; able to maintain strict confidentiality with highly sensitive data.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, proactive problem-solver with strong sense of follow-through.
• Exceptional EQ and client service skills, able to maintain professional composure and approachability.
• Excellent communication skills including oral, written, and interpersonal.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Prior experience with HRIS / ATS / Job Boards a plus.
