Job description

The Sage Group's client, a well-established financial company with a people-first culture, is seeking a creative, strategic internal communications manager with brand and marketing experience to oversee and enhance communications across the company's internal channels. Strong writing, editing, project management, and strategic thinking skills are required.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Gain an understanding of the company's business, values and brand standards
  • Build strong relationships with communications leadership, and business and cross-functional partners, to source, plan and deliver high-impact content. Network and actively participate in meetings, events, etc. to source new communications opportunities and help spread awareness and information across the company
  • Operate strategically, advising partners of the most effective communications style and channels to achieve their goals while balancing the resource constraints of a small communications team
  • Write simply and with an eye for layout and images. Translate complex topics (financial, risk, technical) into clear, conversational language
  • Manage editorial calendar
  • Source, write, proofread and lay out a wide variety of internal communications, including internal articles, web pages, newsletters, executive announcements, talking points, FAQs and digital signage
  • Leverage data and metrics to identify what works and where the opportunities are
  • As needed, direct external agency partners and other vendors on projects, timelines, budgets and deliverables


Key Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related role; banking and financial services experience is preferred
  • Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Psychology or Business is ideal
  • Highly motivated self-starter who enjoys collaborating in a varied, fast-paced environment
  • Empowered and confident, with the ability to provide strategic communications advice to stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player who builds strong relationships internally and externally and works well under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Data, metrics and reporting skills with respect to communications effectiveness
  • Eye for design, layout and formatting. Intranet platform (e.g., SharePoint, Jive, Yammer) and Photoshop experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to coordinate numerous projects simultaneously
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
  • Sound judgment and impeccable discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information


Duration: This is a contract opportunity, minimum of 3-6 months, may extend long term. Possible conversion to permanent for the right candidate

Location: Remote for now. Ideal candidate will reside in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York Metro
