Job description

Inventory Control Logistics Lead needed for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in San Francisco. Position is remote for now with hybrid option upon return to the office.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Inventory Control Logistics Lead provides critical support to the business with the tactical responsibilities of supply and demand management: tracking purchase orders from point of origin to the Distribution Center, monitoring transfers, working with the warehouse to ensure policies and standards are executed and preparing reports that help enable the team to make intelligent business decisions.

  • Work with Product Development team, Vendors and Freight Forwarders to coordinate inbound freight scheduling and consolidation.
  • Act as liaison between freight forward partners.
  • Ensure that inbound inventory process efficiency is optimized, including overseeing product from water to port through customs and truck to warehouse. Manage live onload versus drop according to warehouse capabilities.
  • Responsible for reconciling and approving product vendor invoices to receipts / bill of lading.
  • Ensure all paperwork associated with each shipment is accurate and timely. Research and resolve all discrepancies on a timely basis.
  • Maintain transparency and reporting around inbound inventory, including coordination with third party logistics partner.
  • Collaborate with Distribution Center to process, schedule and prioritize inbound shipments with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Key point of contact across multiple internal departments regarding shipment status and arrival dates.
  • Request quotes from Agents and Freight Forwarders to reduce costs on inbound freight.
  • Review Vendor invoices and distribute weekly Accounts Payable reporting.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and request cycle counts with Distribution Center. Elevate variances to warehouse management as needed.
  • Lead or participate in departmental projects to improve systems or efficiencies.
  • Oversee the release and transfer of products to vendors, other DC's, and corporate locations. Must ensure inventory accuracy, correct paperwork, timely reconciliations, and efficient loading.
  • Audit receiving and stocking procedures to ensure that policies are followed.
  • Ensure the cycle count and count back program is executed as designed, is consistent and accurate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of related Inventory Control experience in a retail / ecommerce environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Inventory and Distribution Center Operations required.
  • An understanding of managing lead times, having good planning and ability to triage delays in shipments.
  • Must be tech savvy with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Quantitative background with strong mathematical skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships in a positive work environment.
