What we are looking for:
Stem is seeking applicants inspired by the opportunity to be a key contributor to the commercialization and financing of energy storage projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role will primarily interact and team with the finance, sales, and business development teams to support new market entry with creative solutions for our customers. This position will report to the Sr. Director, Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Support creative commercial structuring for Stem's projects in emerging and new markets with modeling and commercial insights
- Support finance leadership through end-to-end execution of transactions, including strategy, financial modeling, negotiation, diligence
- Support project financing and M&A transactions with third-party developers and investors
- Lead and coordinate diligence processes, working extensively with various internal and external groups (including consultants and outside counsel)
- Prepare and deliver complex analyses and conclusions to a variety of internal stakeholders, including executive leadership
- Work closely with senior members of finance team on strategic projects as needed
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following domains: Investment Banking, Renewable Project Development, Consulting, Investing, Corporate Development, Corporate/Strategic Finance or similar environments
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills; self-starter with the ability and drive to work independently
- Attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Strong understanding of commercial, financial, and legal concepts
- Qualitative and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Ability to review, comprehend, and critique binding legal and commercial documentation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to convey ideas and positions clearly and succinctly
- Skillful in cross-functional collaboration and internal and external stakeholder management
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Experience in the energy industry, with direct experience in energy storage, clean technology, renewables, wholesale energy markets a plus
