Job description
Our client, an exciting start-up company in the clean power industry, is looking for a PLM consultant to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to support development and validation of new products.
Responsibilities
- Create, approve, and process engineering change orders (ECOs) and engineering change requests (ECRs) with internal teams and external contract manufacturers.
- Manage PLM software and product data management while making improvements to workflows/processes, tools, and efficiency
- Create and maintain multiple bill of material (BOM) lists, including part numbers, part revisions, technical documentation, updated costing information, and ensuring the BOM reflects overall accurate construction of the product.
- Maintain approved vendor list (AVL), approved manufacturer list (AML), and updated sourcing information in PLM system.
- Manage component obsolescence and end of life (EOL) activities, assisting in finding replacement parts and coordinating last time buy (LTB) of materials with the supply chain team.
- Verify component files/documentation are properly vaulted in the PLM system and/or cloud storage service, associated with correct revision and folder.
- Actively engage in cross functional communication with engineering and supply chain to ensure that selected parts meet technical and functional requirements as well as cost targets.
- Create, manage, and maintain orders for cosigned parts for EVT (Engineering Validation Test) builds and DVT (Design Validation Test) builds.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in a technical discipline
- 3-6 years' mandatory experience in supply chain, engineering, or product design, with at least 2 years working with PLM software (Arena, Oracle Agile PLM, SAP PLM, and/or other PLM systems)
- Knowledgeable in configuration management and constructing BOMs for new products as well as maintaining items, assemblies, and product changes.
- Previous experience managing complex spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
- Deep understanding of electrical and mechanical assemblies / subassemblies.
- Prior experience managing new product introduction (NPI) and hardware development, working with contract manufacturers in Asia.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience working on projects in a broad range of areas from procurement and logistics to manufacturing processes and principles.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, specifically Netsuite or SAP ERP
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software (AutoCAD or Solidworks)
