Job Summary:
This position will benefit someone who is studying their craft in theatre arts, arts administration, or performance art studies. This is a hands-on program to assist the Senior Production Associate of the organization. This person will work with a team to execute specific tasks that are designed to benefit the Production Department of the organization. You need to be a person that takes initiative and jump to assist wherever possible. Candidates who have an array of talents from organizing, skills in sewing, building, or creating are valuable assets to us.
This position will be lead by the Senior Production Associate and will be part of the Production Team.
Full Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:
Assist Production Meetings
* Take notes of the production meeting and disseminate
* Be one of the contacts on the production meeting notes to provide administrative assistance when needed centered on, and to benefit the production
* Connect with team on the production to confirm attendance and follow-up with them to execute their assignments
Work with Designers
* On occasion provide assistance to various designers with shopping for props, costumes, and assist in painting/building the set as needed.
* Take on small projects with technical aspects such as sewing the strawberries on Desdemona's handkerchief; painting small details on set design as needed.
* Designers might need assistance in various capacities such as recording the actor's measurements for costumes, gluing and fixing props that are broken in the rehearsal, coordinating secure space for furniture and other props for the production
Casting Assistance
* Assist on the day of the event to set-up volunteers and provide the necessary paperwork for auditors
* Take the lead in finding locations to announce the audition to various platforms and targeted communities
* Maintain database to ensure all artists have updated contacts within the system
* Communicate with artists callback dates and provide sides.
Research Plays for Education
* Research historical content and background information of current plays and production.
* Work with the arts education team to develop content for lesson plans of each production for the season.
* Research the pronunciation of names and words of plays for the actors to have consistency in the performance area.
General Administration
* Learn how to navigate our systems
* Participate in developing policies and protocols for the organization in terms of equitable and social practices
* Provide general assistance were needed as a main support for the organization.
Qualifications:
* Performing Arts major with an emphasis in Theatre is preferred
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills is a must
* Previous experience in theatre or performing arts is preferred
* Ability to learn quickly for different software platforms
* Basic knowledge of American and Shakespeare classic plays
Skills:
* Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel
* Ability to quickly learn new systems and platforms
* Ability to type at least 45 words per a minute
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
* Ability to lift at least 10 lbs to move tables and chairs as needed or carry small hand props
* Work environment is self-driven. We need individuals who take initiative to bring value to the organization's goals.
* When working remotely, you must have your own computer/laptop.
Schedule Requirements:
* Hours should reflect some days and time during the workday week with some evenings and weekends to supplement.
* Hours are flexible, but should be consistent
