LiDAR plays a crucial role in helping TuSimple L4 Autonomous Driving Trucks perceive the world. You will lead a team effort in designing and developing state-of-the-art algorithms for LiDAR perception, and deploying the modules onto on-truck platforms.

Example projects that you will be working on:

Long range LiDAR 3D object detection, segmentation, and spatio-temporal analysis.
Multi-sensor Multi-modality object detection, fusion, and 3D reconstruction.
Learning-based and geometry-based 3D perception and scene understanding.
Robust LiDAR perception on challenging environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development effort of TuSimple LiDAR perception roadmap. Pioneering in solving the hard problems through product-driven development.
Manage a team of 6-8 engineers and own the team growth.
Take responsibility for strategic planning, execution, and success of the LiDAR perception team through technical leadership.
Work on learning-based and geometry-based approaches to improve the overall capability of LiDAR perception system.
Collaborate with a variety of engineering teams to define and deliver the autonomous driving product efficiently and smoothly.

Qualifications

M.S./Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics.
5+ years of product-driven industrial working experience in LiDAR perception.
Strong hands-on technical leadership and engineering management experience.
Solid knowledge of deep learning based LiDAR perception algorithms including detection, segmentation, 3D reconstruction, and spatio-temporal analysis.
Strong understanding of various LiDAR sensor characteristics and geometry-based LiDAR perception algorithms.
Track record of successful delivery of complex technical projects into real-world products.
Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
