Job description

At First Republic, we care about our people. Founded in 1985, we offer extraordinary client service in private banking, private business banking and private wealth management. We believe that personal connections are everything and our success is driven by the relationships we form with our colleagues and clients. You'll always feel empowered and valued here.

Incredible teams doing exceptional work, every day

In Technology, we support First Republic's employees and clients through the acquisition, integration and management of the Bank's information technology systems and services. We drive innovation and explore emerging technologies so our people can be productive and focus on what matters most - providing extraordinary service.

As Vice President, Digital Technologies(DT)Engineering, you will manage DT's Engineering and QA teams. You'll lead our development managers to consistently build applications in a component-based design pattern to promote reuse and stability. You'll drive Test-Driven Development practices and manage and improve the burndown velocity of development and QA. Additionally, you'll partner closely with our VP of Architecture to continue modernization of our digital platform with Cloud adoption, containerization, microservices, and modern DevSecOps practices. The goal for the DT Engineering Lead is to minimize defects and maximize development velocity by guiding development and testing managers in implementing their features using a component-based model, leveraging and enriching the shared components repository, and adopting a consistent Test-Driven Development process, breaking down and sizing features into less complex user stories, and being a leader in effectively resolving development roadblocks.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Technologies and working closely with both our broader Information Services teams and Product teams, you'll be a senior member of the Digital Technologies team. We are looking for a leader who can inspire a lean, high-performing team, modernize and advance our digital platforms, while maintaining great company culture. You have strong leadership and mentorship skills in fast-paced environments, including a strong track record of driving engineering practices across a high-performing organization.

Experience with digital platforms and related technologies is essential as this role will be the responsible for setting the bar on how Digital Technologies builds modern solutions. You are a self-starter and will need to quickly understand the various components of the current architecture, identify areas for improvement, and execute a roadmap of both tactical and strategic improvements for current and future applications. Candidates for this role should have experience working within banking or other financial services and display an understanding and appreciation for the complexities therein.

What you'll do as the Vice President, Digital Technologies Engineering

  • Drive the engineering of DT's Digital 2.0 Platform and ensure the adoption of its target architecture

  • Maintain the repository of engineering artifacts
  • Ensure solutions meet well-defined and managed SLAs
  • Ensure a partnership with Project Managers to help them clearly understand component and work breakdown of solutions and support them on sizing and resolving roadblocks through the Agile development and release processes
  • Partner and collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Product Managers, Architects, and Production Managers to understand their key needs and ensure solution designs meet both functional and non-functional needs
