Position: Assistant Controller Reporting to:VP Finance & Corporate Controller Location: San Jose, CA Summary: NETGEAR is looking to hire a self-motivated professional Assistant Controller. With oversight of a number of key functional areas, the Assistant Controller will be a strong collaborative leader with excellence technical knowledge and with strong business acumen. Responsibilities: Provide management to Revenue & SEC reporting teams. Mange and develop these teams to create career development opportunities while providing visionary leadership to enable scale in line with business developments. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and SEC filings 10-Q, 10-K and other SEC filings as required. Responsible for review of key account reconciliations, management reporting packages & financial statement line items. Updating/develop, manage and implementing corporate financial policies to ensure current GAAP and SEC compliance. Lead adoption efforts for new accounting pronouncements. Proactively researching, consulting and drafting technical memorandums. Presenting technical analysis to executive management & designing process and systems to support conclusions. Assist with process and system design to enable accurate and efficient accounting of new business initiatives. Identify and implement process improvements, targeting areas for improvement providing actionable plans to executive management for review. Provide leadership in the efficient planning and execution of the external audits of the financials and internal audits over accounting results, processes and internal controls. Global Process Owner for certain business processes including ownership of design and efficient enhancement of processes while maintaining controls integrity compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley. Oversee the documentation of all internal controls pertaining to the functions under management, identifying gaps and correcting them, and identifying and implementing improvements in the overall control structure and doing so consistent with the growth of the company. Lead the quarterly Disclosure Committee meeting and stand ready to present complex accounting matters to the Exec team. Involvement in M&A activity, including purchase price allocation and direct the use of third-party advisors where needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance. Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with technical research and preparation of accounting position papers. 10+ years of accounting experience is required. 5+ years within a Big 4 firm desired. Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel. CPA or international equivalent. Outstanding project management skills to establish and meet deadlines. Demonstrable history of process and system implementations. Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative management style. Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, writing and presentation skills. Detail-oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, and to lead and drive complex initiatives. Demonstrable leadership abilities. Excellent computer skills with MS Office software, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Oracle, Essbase/Smartview, is a plus.
