Position Overview

GES, A Kimball Electronics Company, is a global developer and manufacturer of automated test/measurement equipment. This position is responsible for identifying prospective customers and developing long term relationships with customers in need of automation, test, and measurement solutions within the Consumer Electronics industry segment. This position is located in San Jose, CA and reports to the Director of Global Business Development and Customer Support.

Quick Summary

This role will identify prospective customers in the Consumer Electronics industry and attract long-term strategic customers for GES through a combination of effective outbound prospecting activities and successful communication of GES solutions and overall vision. A highly successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, resolve issues and provide creative solutions, be technically competent, and bring an energetic and competitive personality to win new business. The individual will develop and support opportunities for all GES facilities (Vietnam, China, India, and the US).

Basic Background Requirements

  • 2+ years in business development/outside sales experience selling within the consumer electronics industry
  • Technically astute and knowledge of automation, test and measurement equipment
  • Possess major account business development skills including qualifying customer fit to the company's capabilities and driving internal teams to meet customer demands
  • Able to work and communicate with all levels of the organization (prospective customers and internal teams)
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience strongly preferred


Key Performance Objectives
  • Short Term: (0 to 3 months)
  • Learn and understand key capabilities of GES
  • Forge relationships with Engineering and Operations Leadership
  • Understand the GES Business Development process
  • Begin identifying prospective customers for GES
  • Assume responsibility for existing prospective accounts


  • Midterm: (3 to 9 months)
  • Identify approximately 2 new active accounts (prospects) per month
  • Complete 1 new approved strategy statements every month
  • Complete approximately 1 new RFQ per month
  • Add 2 new customers


  • Longer Term: (>9 months)
  • Identify approximately 2 new active accounts (prospects) per month
  • Complete 1 new approved strategy statements per month
  • Complete approximately 2 new RFQs per month.
  • On an annual basis land 4 new customers per year that meet GES Revenue and profitability expectations
  • Identify and lead business development process improvement
