Job Title: Cost Accounting Manager Company: Netgear Location: San Jose, CA SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for all cost accounting related activities: month end close (journal entries and corresponding account reconciliations), labor & overhead absorption, inventory management, and freight/duty tracking and monitoring. Operate as the owner of the accrued freight account and all related P&L expense lines. At quarter end, investigate to ensure costs are being bucketed into the right expense account, gather freight estimates from primary external freight vendors and assemble into the freight liability reconciliation, along with posting the necessary related accrual journal entries. Work closely and partner with supply chain team to analyze inventory for potential excess and obsolete to minimize inventory on hand and mitigate E&O risks. Partner with operations team to monitor and optimize warranty expenses. Perform variance analyses such as purchase price to cost variance, cost revaluation and work order variance. Ensure process integrity while working with cross-functional peers to resolve process issues. Responsible for overseeing various costing valuation methods as well as ensuring inventory movements and costs are appropriately monitored and captured. Develop, document, and implement process improvements, including initiatives to streamline close processes and reduce close time. Assist in other cost general ledger areas and reconcile asset and liability accounts as assigned. Coordinate with both external and internal auditors to complete financial audits and SOX testing of responsible accounts. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and five plus years of prior experience in a public company or auditing / accounting firm, cost accounting, or corporate finance. CPA preferred. Strong computer skills and proficient with Excel including pivot tables, multiconditional sumifs, and vlookups. Detail-oriented, highly analytical, and strong problem-solving skills. Self-starter, proactive, organized and with an ability to work well with others but also independently. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
